Elton John supports LGBT people in Africa

Elton John has pledged to spend millions of dollars from his Aids Foundation to support lesbian, transgender, gay and bisexual people in Africa.

The singer has joined with  Pepfar an American fund that issues grants to people living in homophobic countries on the continent. John stated he couldn’t change regime and societal attitudes to queer people but could help give them resources and medicines.

Many countries have anti-gay legislation and a few such as Nigeria and Sudan have the death penalty on their statute books.
